Sales tax is a tax applied to the retail price of merchandise and collected by the retailer. Sales tax rate differs from county to county and from state to state. In some states such as Oregon, there's no certain sales tax, but in others such as california, salestax skyrockets could be as high as close to 10%. A State sales taxes fall on merchandise sold by retailers in stores, but not on Internet sales. Partly because of this sales tax advantage, Internet sales are growing rapidly. Mail-order sales enjoy a similar sales tax advantage, thus, they are also experiencing explosive growth. But potential cahnge in internet & mail order sales tax laws may affect both sales. |
